The Digital Troy Project

Department: A&S Classics
Researcher: Jeff Kramer & Jack Davis
Dataset and Source: Records from 1932-1938 University of Cincinnati expedition to Troy including correspondences, documentation photos, financial records, lecture drafts
Status: In Progress

We created a general pottery classifier using deep learning on the documentation photographs of the pottery recovered at the dig which correctly identified the pottery type at an 87% accuracy rate. We await further data digitization and recording, and potential outside collection for further specialized era specific training.
